Kirkcudbright Fringe 2024: A Bigger and Better Celebration of Arts and Culture

There's always something amazing happening in Dumfries & Galloway and this year we see the return of the Kirkcudbright Fringe. Expanding from three to four days, from Thursday, September 5th to Sunday, September 8th, this year's Fringe promises an unforgettable experience.

Over 50 Acts in 19 Venues

With over 50 acts gracing 19 venues throughout the charming town of Kirkcudbright, there's truly something for everyone. The program is now available on the Fringe website, where you can secure your tickets to this incredible celebration of the arts.

Highlights from This Year's Lineup

Prepare to be mesmerized by performances from the renowned National Theatre of Scotland and the Scottish Ensemble. Get ready for a good laugh with four Northern female comedians delivering their saucy Femme de la Femme show, and Alan Bissett's acclaimed Moira Monologues will surely leave you wanting more.

Delve into local history with John Leopold's talk on the Galloway Levellers, and be inspired by June Nelson's tales of a year spent on a desert island. Political enthusiasts will find much to ponder in the discussions between Iain Dale and the UK's election expert Sir John Curtice.

Gain fascinating insights into the life and work of George Orwell through a talk by his son, Richard Blair, and listen to legendary reporter Neal Ascherson reflect on his experiences covering the world and Scotland. Economist Will Hutton will shed light on upcoming challenges, and a special closing session with authors James Robertson and Kapka Kassabova, chaired by Joyce McMillan, will explore the vibrant local and regional arts scene.

Music, Food, and More!

Saturday night will come alive with the electrifying energy of Mike McAlpine and his 5-piece band as they pay tribute to the King of Rock and Roll with Viva Elvis Viva Kirkcudbright.

Beyond the main program, the Kirkcudbright annual flower show and a car boot sale will take place in Harbour Square on Sunday. Treat your taste buds to delicious street food and drinks in the Soaperie Gardens, and enjoy the lively performances of local bands in Harbour Square, including the Dumfries Community Choir.
