Curtain Call on a Phenomenal 45th Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival!
Scotland's largest rural performing arts festival just wrapped up an incredible run, captivating over 3,200 attendees with world-class theatre, music, dance, comedy, and spoken word.
A Celebration of Homegrown Talent and National Stars
This year was a true celebration of the vibrant arts scene that thrives in our beautiful region. With 39 events across 28 venues, the festival showcased the incredible talent of both local artists and national performers. We were blown away by the heartwarming reception of the sell-out Galloway SangStreams: Songs linking life, land, and legacy by The Cairn Chorus, a testament to the strength of our local collaborations.
Stories That Moved Us, Laughter That Healed Us
From James Rowland's poignant Piece of Work to Raymond Wilson's powerful Made in Scotland show, the festival brought stories to life that resonated deeply with audiences. The Authentic Artists Collective's breathtaking When Mountains Meet transported us from the Scottish Highlands to the Himalayas, while Shona Cowie and Neil Sutcliffe's With the Devils Assistance sparked important conversations about feminism and community.
Music to Our Ears, Poetry to Our Souls
Music filled the air with the sold-out trad night at The Vault Arts Centre, the electrifying VALTOS and Dlù concert, and the soulful performances of The Willow Trio. The I Am Loud South of Scotland Poetry Slam showcased the region's incredible spoken word talent, leaving us inspired and invigorated.
A Festival That Embraces Every Corner of Dumfries & Galloway
The magic and spectacle of Cirqulation landed in Castle Douglas and Crawick Multiverse, transforming these spaces into hubs of joy and connection. Scottish Opera graced Wigtown and Moniaive with their enchanting performances, sparking a lifelong love of opera in young hearts. And comedian Connor Burns had the Loreburn Hall in stitches, promising to return in 2025!
A Tribute to 45 Years of Creativity
The Celebration Concert at Easterbrook Hall was a touching tribute to the festival's rich history and the passionate people who have made it possible. A night of music, memories, and shared dreams for the future, it reminded us of the power of the arts to unite and uplift our communities.
